LAZYgunsBRISKY
LAZYgunsBRISKY is an all-girl hard rock quartet from Tokyo. Comprising members Lucy (vocals), izumi (guitar), azu (bass, vocals), and Moe (drums)., the band draws influence from 60s – 80s rock and roll, replete with fat guitars and sludgy bass. Their current stuff could be described as an updated take on the likes of Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith, while some of the older songs possess the brutish simplicity of The Stooges. The band formed in September 2006, and within five months they had released their first demo CD. April 2008 saw the release of their debut album, quixotic, on the indie imprint July Records.
They followed the release with a tour of Japan, quickly building up a strong following on the club circuit. Capitalizing on their momentum, LAZYgunsBRISKY released the mini-album Catching from on major label Babestar, a sub label of Victor, again followed by a tour. The record was produced by Kenichi Asai, former leader of the legendary Blankey Jet City, who also co-wrote the track “Pretending” with the band. In July 2009, the band released their second mini-album, 26 Times, on the associated flyingstar records. Again produced by Asai, the record included the track “Navy Star”, which was used as the ending theme on the Tokyo Television program The God Tongue. Soon after release, the band embarked on a whirlwind 20+ date tour spanning all of Japan.
