LAST DAY OF SUCCESSFUL TOUR HIGHLITED BY GIVING PROCLAIMS BY MAYOR OF THE CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU MAY 31st TO BE L’ARC~EN~CIEL DAY
(May 31st, 2012, Honolulu, Hawaii) – Last day of huge successful world tour ends at Waikiki Shell in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu, Peter B. Carlisle appeared on the stage of L’Arc~en~Ciel’s final show of their world tour at Waikiki Shell in Honolulu, Hawaii to proclaim May 31, 2012 to be “L’Arc~en~Ciel DAY” in recognition of the group’s first Hawaii performance, in appreciation for enriching Honolulu cultural calendar and promoting the city to millions of fans across the globe, and for strengthening the bonds of friendship between Japan and Hawaii. 5,000 fans from all over the world shared this happy day with 4 members of the band.
Formed in 1991 in Osaka, Japan, L’Arc~en~Ciel has mesmerized crowds since the very beginning. No matter the year, with their unique melodies and edgy sounds, the band, responding to the zeitgeist, has had a hit song to match the times. Like all great musicians, the band’s music has evolved over the years and has had a lasting influence. From their early work to their most recent offerings, which ranges from Goth rock to jangly guitar pop reminiscent of The Cure’s lighter moments and U2-esque stadium anthems, L’Arc~en~Ciel has continually captured audiences worldwide.
L’Arc~en~Ciel 20th L’Anniversary WORLD TOUR 2012, visited Hong Kong, Bangkok, Shanghai, Taipei, New York, London, Paris, Singapore, Jakarta, Seoul, Yokohama, Osaka and Tokyo, attracted 450,000 people to their shows including headlining Madison Square Garden as a first Japanese Band, just ended with the Honolulu show.
