The first day of the final musical event at the National Olympic Stadium, “SAYONARA Kokuritsu Gyogijou FINAL WEEK JAPAN NIGHT,” entitled “Yell for Japan,” was held on May 28. We would like to bring you a report of Kaori Kishitani’s performance.

Following the exquisite MCs, call and response, and passionate performance at the National Olympic Stadium by Naoto Inti Raymi, Kaori Kishitani took the stage.

Suddenly, the intro began to play and Kishitani said, “I will sing with lots of love,” and performed the huge hit song “Diamonds” by Princess Princess.

Her smile, movements on the stage, and slightly husky voice remain unchanged since her heyday. She walked to the end of the runway and entertained the fans in the arena seats.

The audience held penlights that changed color from the through each of their movements, bathing the venue in rainbow colored lights. Looking around during the chorus, everyone seemed to be singing along. Men and women of all ages and all over Japan know this song, and everyone can sing it without looking at the lyrics. The brilliance of this famous song continues to shine even years later.

“Thank you very much!”

With an amazing smile, Kiritani left the stage.
