Yukari Ito
Yukari Ito is a Japanese singer/actress.
She was one of the popular Japanese pop singers of the ‘60s and ‘70s. She still holds concerts to this day and works as a successful actress.
She began singing at the American base camp from childhood. She debuted with the theme song for the movie “Senjou ni Kakeru Hashi” called “Kuwai Kawa March” when she was 11 years old.
Soon after, she temporarily took a break, and transferred to Watanabe Production and resumed activity. She became a member of “Spark Sannin Kyoudai” along with Mie Nakao and Marito Sono who were talented pop singers. She soon became a national figure as she starred in “Shabondama Holiday” and “Utae! Ichioku”. The 1967 release “Koyubi no Omoide” became a big hit, and remains to be a piece in her current repertoire. Since then, she has released numerous hit songs including “Koi no Shizuku”, “Asa no Kuchizuke”, and “Shiranakattano”, and in 1969, was starred as the host MC of the “20th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen”.
