Ayumi Hamasaki’s “The GIFT” is #1 on KKBOX in Asia

Ayumi Hamasaki’s “The GIFT” started streaming on Asia’s biggest digital music site, KKBOX, on March 23. It has taken the #1 spot in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and other Asian countries.

Asian superstar JJ Lin wrote “The GIFT”. He was introduced to Hamasaki through a mutual friend last autumn and was asked to make a song for her. JJ Lin then sent Hamasaki a demo version of the song with him singing the beautiful melody. Hamasaki then tried to recreate that melody. It is a heart warming wedding ballad with a gentle melody that resonates and lyrics that move the soul. Hamasaki has said that “his personality can be felt” in the song.

JJ Lin even appears in the music video. He learned the Japanese lyrics specifically for the song.
