Hiroshi "Monsieur" Kamayatsu

Hiroshi "Monsieur" Kamayatsu Hiroshi “Monsieur” Kamayatsu was born in Tokyo in 1939. He formed a country & western band during his school days and started playing at military bases as a professional musician. He had been in several bands, but his big break was with The Spiders that he formed in 1964. He wrote several of their hit songs as well as oversaw the choreography and costumes. He was an idea man and fashion leader of that time.
His solo album, released in 1970, featured “one-man overdubbing” which was very unusual for that time. He could be considered a pioneer of embracing experimental recording techniques.
He has influenced many artists since then and is loved by countless others. He is a rock legend that truly represents Japan.
