Norimasa Fujisawa

Norimasa Fujisawa was born to a vocalist father and music teacher mother. When he studied abroad in Canada in high school, he encountered the music of Celine Dion, opening his eyes to the world of pop and at the same time planting the idea of the fusion of pop and opera.
In his 2008 debut song “Dattanjin no Odori,” the chorus referenced the song “Polovtsian Dances” from Russian composer Alexander Borodin’s opera “Prince Igor.” The first and second verses utilize Fujisawa’s original lyrics, and furthermore the arrangement of the song is pop.
Afterward, his singing in the chorus changes from pop to opera, proposing the idea of a new genre called “pop-opera,” and he is called the “young noble of pop-opera.”
