Japanese punk band DETROITSEVEN contributes to new song from The Vibrators
October 10, 2012 – Popular Japanese punk band DETROITSEVEN’s guitarist Tomomi Nabana will perform on a new song by The Vibrators in an upcoming American CD release by Cleopatra Records.
Nabana was invited to perform backing vocals and guitar on the new track “Turn up the Heat!” for the veteran British punk band’s new album, set for release in early 2013.
Nabana is the only Japanese artist invited to join a group of all-star guests, including Walter Luhr (Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers), Brian James (The Damned), Wayne Kramer (MC5), Hugh Cornwell (The Stranglers), Tony Lovato (Mest), Campino (Die Toten Hosen), Ty Segall, and Nicky Garrett (UK Subs).

Formed in 2001 by guitarist/vocalist Tomomi Nabana, DETROITSEVEN (originally “detroit7”) has been performing and recording for over ten years, touring with high-profile acts Tamio Okuda, Teenage Fanclub, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Graham Coxon (Blur), Go!Go!7188, SOIL & “PIMP” SESSIONS, ketchup mania, and Shonen Knife.
DETROITSEVEN has performed multiple times at Japanese music festivals COUNTDOWN JAPAN, RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL, and SUMMER SONIC. The band has also performed extensively overseas, including appearances at SXSW, USA’s Japan Nite Tour, and the “Black & White World Tour” covering 7 countries and 31 cities in Europe.
ABOUT CLEOPATRA RECORDS
Founded in 1992 by Brian Perera, it specializes in gothic rock, hard rock, heavy metal and reissues of out-of-print music. It is known for its compilations, usually collections of cover songs performed by bands signed to the label.
