Jiro Amakusa


Born in Amakusa city, Kumamoto Prefecture. Worked in Nagoya and Osaka, after being touched by the charm of songs written by Tooru Funamura, “I am going to become Funamura’s apprentice” was his last words to his company, and left to live in Tokyo. After 9.5 years of training under Funamura Tooru, on May 25th 2005, debuted from Nippon Crown. Debut song “Amakusa Katagi” was composed by Funamura Tooru, written by Mizuki Reiji, his hometown Amakusa as a theme for the song; in the course of writing the song Funamura asked Mizuki “Could you please go to his hometown Amakusa and see it with your eyes?” and thus Mizuki went and wrote this poetic piece. In the second single, similar line-up of Amakusa series was introduced in “Amakusa Junjyou c/w Sadame No Tsubaki”.
