Legendary Rock Guitarist Tomoyasu Hotei to appear at HYPER JAPAN Surprise Guest Appearance Only on Fri November 23 at 6.00pm
It’s not often that you get the chance to see a real-life rock star legend from Japan in the flesh. That’s why the visit to this year’s HYPER JAPAN by groundbreaking rock guitarist Tomoyasu Hotei around 6:00pm on Friday 23 November is so incredibly special.
Hotei will be rocking the HYPER JAPAN stage with his global hit, ‘Battle Without Honour or Humanity.’ What’s more, he is giving one lucky winner a competition prize: – two tickets to his special one-off gig at the Roundhouse in Camden, London on December 18.
If you’ve heard the theme tune to Kill Bill, then you already know who Hotei is. But ‘Battle Without Honour or Humanity’ is just one highlight in a career that spans 30 years and more than 30 albums. Hotei has performed with rock legends such as Bob Dylan, Bon Jovi, Joni Mitchell and Ry Cooder; he has also composed widely for film, including Kill Bill and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as well as numerous Japanese films. He has performed at the Olympics Games closing ceremony in Atlanta 1996, as well as at the Royal Albert Hall, and countless sell-out arena performances in Japan. Last year, Hotei gave two special performances at the Tokyo Dome to raise money for the victims of the March 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, playing to over 100,000 people.
His unique style and creativity has led to multiple collaborations with other musicians, such as his globally renowned guitar concerto with composer Michael Kamen. More recently MINI has created a signature Hotei Mini Roadster, and Zodiac has created a signature range of guitars for him. Hotei is also something of a fashion icon, gracing the cover of GQ in Japan, and also recently appearing alongside Paul Smith at London Fashion Week 2012.
Hotei is in London for his much anticipated and very special one-off show on December 18th at London’s popular Roundhouse. Featuring some old favourites as well as a selection of stunningly arranged classics, which in the past have included Telegram Sam, All the Young Dudes and Born to Be Wild. If you’re in any doubt as to just how popular Hotei is, the fact that some of his fans are flying halfway across the world to see him perform should give you a clue.
