Akio Kayama
Born in Hakodate, Hokkaido.
In 1970, became the last apprentice to the composer Masao Koga.
In 1973, was given the stage name Akio Kayama by Akihiro Miwa (aka Akihiro Maruyama at the time).
In December 1977, made his singer debut with the song “Hisame” from Columbia Records.
In 1982, the song “Hisame” won several cable radio awards such as the “Asahikawa Yuusen Taisho” and the “All Japan Yuusen Taisho”. In 1983, it became a national hit and won the “25th Nippon Record Taisho Long Seller” award.
In 2004, became sightseeing ambassador of Hakodate. 2012 marked his 40th anniversary since his debut.
