Takuya Kuroda
Takuya Kuroda is a jazz trumpeter born in 1980 in Hyogo prefecture. He started playing trumpet at the age of twelve and played in big bands through middle school, high school, and college. Kuroda then started playing in jazz clubs in Kobe and Osaka at just sixteen years of age.
Kuroda moved to the United States in 2003 and started attending The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. After graduating, he made Brooklyn, New York his home and began performing all over the world in various genres including jazz. He went on to arrange and perform on albums for JUJU, Orange Pekoe, and Jose James.
Kuroda released “Bitter and High”, his first album as bandleader, in 2010. In 2011, his critically acclaimed second release, “Edge”, ranked in at No.3 on US charts.
June 2013 marked the release of “Takuya Kuroda Sextet: Six Aces” on P-VINE. In 2014, Takuya Kuroda will make his major label debut on legendary Blue Note Records, which is approaching its 75th anniversary.
