1000say: From Japan Expo USA to Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka tour

“Japan Expo” is Europe’s biggest ongoing Japanese pop culture festival. It started on August 8, 2000 in Paris, France and made its first appearance in America on August 8, 2013. This year, 1000say participated along with Dempagumi. inc, and You Kikkawa. 1000say have participated in Japan Expo Paris 2011, Orleans 2012, and Brussels 2012.

1000say is approaching their five-year anniversary since their debut. Cathy of Southpaw, a boutique in Koenji, designed vocalist API’s costume for the show. She moved around the stage in clothes remade from vintage clothes from America. The costume was one of a kind. MAN, MICHELLE, and NON were dressed in Monomania brand from the Harajuku boutique, La Foret Harajuku.

1000say took the stage on August 24 and 25 and performed 17 songs, including new songs. The band is usually known for their peaceful and warm performances. However, by the end of the set, the band had audience members standing up against the front of the stage.

MAN, dove into the audience with a microphone during “BASKET SHOES,” for which French filmmaker Clement Demarquette created a music video for. As the band went into “HOLY RAIN,” the crowd waved their hands in the air and surrounded the venue with warm smiles and chants.

Fans formed a long line for the post-show autograph session. Both the band and the fans seemed to have a great time.

1000say, over the fall and winter, will be going on a Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka solo tour to commemorate their five-year anniversary. On October 10, the band will release a new song called “SPECTRUM” for limited free download on OTOTOY. The free download is available until December 31, 2013.
