Yukari Onishi from Osaka has a soulful voice and sings her own songs that have a strong flavour of popular music from the mid Showa era of the 1950s and 60s.
Yukari Onishi is a female singer who harks back to the glory days of Japanese pop in the 1950s. Singing kayo-kyoku, on her album ‘Yatara Kireina Mangetsu’,
she has teamed up with Ryudo Ozaki, a veteran musician and songwriter with a legacy of many big hits, and Ozaki’s wife, lyricist Yoko Aki. Onishi is accompanied by Arrow Jazz Orchestra, formed in 1959 who used to be the backing band for Hibari Misora.
