Azumi Inoue & Yuyu @ JAPAN EXPO 2015

On the first day of JAPAN EXPO2015, Azumi Inoue and Yuyu opened the EXPO with Neko Light Orchestra doing all-Ghibli-song concert.

The show started with Neko Light Orchestra.The members all have blue hair and black painted face playing serene Ghibli music with unique interpretation still based on the original. The simple formation of the orchestra with drums, bass, guitar, synth, violin, cello, and percussion created an amazingly deep sound for the venue.

Later, when the audience started screaming “AZUMI INOUE!!”, Azumi came up onto the stage, wearing Neko Light Orchestra’s signature blue wig.

Welcomed by the big applause, she performed “Yasashisa ni Tsutsumaretanara” from “Kiki’s Delivery Service” and “Kimi wo Nosete” from “Laputa, the Castle of the Sky”. Followed by “Ponyo” sung by Yuyu wearing the blue wig, giving an amazing performance beyond the expectation from a 10-year-old girl.

The closing song was “My Neighbor Totoro” medley. When Azumi said “Chante avec moi” to the audience in French sentence she just learned, the audience sang together over the line that goes “Totoro Totoro”.
In the big applause that seemed everlasting, the first Azumi Inoue and Yuyu show drew its curtain.

I’ve heard that Ghibli is popular in France, but I didn’t expect this much! I’m really surprised. I wasn’t sure if I get to fill a big venue for 4,000 people but when I came upon to the stage, it was a full-house show! Everyone was so excited, clapping their hands and singing together. The members of Neko Light Orchestra were so friendly and such Ghbli lovers that they told me we should play together again. I made a promise to it. Next time, maybe France, Spain, Italy , European tour! I would like to dream big(lol).

Yuyu
I have sung in China and Taiwan but this was my first Europe show that I’ve been looking forward.

It was so fun that I got to sing at a big venue, looking at everyone’s smile. I saw the Eiffel Tower, went to Versailles Palace. I will keep doing my best to be able to sing for more overseas performance.
