Mai Fukui Born in Kyoto Prefecture.
On August 20th, 2008, despite being a newcomer, debuted with the huge tie-up single “Ai no Uta” (Theme song for the TBS drama “Koizora”). Her melancholic voice attracted many fans in their teens and twenties. The song marked more than 1.5 million downloads, which led to her winning various rookie of the year awards in 2008. In November of that year, released the 2nd single “Lucky”. Mixed rock, Hip Hop, and Folk music to accompany her realistic and relatable lyrics.
In January 2009, participated in the Tokyo Disney Resort’s 25th anniversary album “Disney Dream Pop ~ Tribute to Tokyo Disney Resort 25th Anniversary”. Sang the Japanese cover of “A Whole New World” from “Aladdin”. In March 2009, released her long-awaited 1st album “MY SONG FOR YOU” which featured 12 finest melancholic pop tunes.
On January 1st, 2010, released the download-only single “Kibou no Uta” (Mizuno Running TV Commercial tie-up song). In July 2010, released the 2nd album “Lucky Charm”.
In February 2011, released the 4th single “Ikutabi no Sakura”. The song was inserted as the theme song for NHK’s New Year period drama “Onmitsu Hichou”. The song ranked 1st place in Usen Housou’s “J-POP Request Ranking” for the first half of 2011. The song became a long seller appealing to people of all ages. In November 2011, released the single “Yakusoku no Basho c/w Tatta Hitori no Mikata”. “Yakusoku no Basho” became the theme song for PlayStation 3 software “FINAL FANTASY XIII-2”, and “Tatta Hitori no Mikata became the theme song for Tokai Television/Fuji Television’s soap opera “Hanayome Noren”. In December released the 3rd EP “Beautiful Days”, which featured all her hits from 2011.
