DJ KAORI Began collecting records from the age of 14, and began her own style of DJ at the age of 16.
In 1992, went to Ney York by herself. While DJing at a club, she was scouted by the local No. 1 Hip Hop DJ, Funkmaster Flex, to become the first female DJ of his DJ clan, Big Dawg Pitbulls. Since then, she has risen to stardom and has appeared on the front page of NY Times, became the first Japanese DJ for New York’s No.1 radio station, Hot 97. At her busiest times, she had more than 5 programs a week. She has also been offered to be party DJ by the likes of Mariah Carey, P. Diddy, and such sports stars as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Mike Tyson.
She has sold over 3.7 million copies of mix CD to date. Her 2008 release, “RAGGA MIX” and “INMIX DVD” have won Gold Disc Awards in 2 categories.
Aside from mix CDs, she has worked as the navigator host for the American #1 hit show, “American Idol” (currently broadcasted on FOX International Channels), has been in charge of soundtrack for 2 episodes of the TV drama (Fuji Television’s “Chance! ~Kanojo ga Seikou Ahita Riyuu~”, aired on 3/7 and 3/14). Recently, she appeared on Nippon Television’s “Sekai! Dangan Traveler” (Episode #119 Mauritius Himitsu no Beach Hitorijime de Saikou no Ikkyoku wo Kikitai), and “Shabekuri 007” (appeared on episodes #38 and #45). In April 2011, she has been the main MC for the Fuji Television show “Sakigake! Ongaku Banzuke ~EIGHT~”.
Recently, she has been on her way to cementing her position as hit producer through works with DOUBLE, Namie Amuro, and May J.’s hit single “Garden feat. DJ KAORI, Diggy-MO’, Clench & Blistah”. Participated in numerous works with artists inside and outside the country, such as in Lil’ B’s album “Ima, Kimi e …” with “Kimi Uta Trilogy DJ KAORI7s Lil’B girls mix” (released on 09/02/11). As a singer, she has released DJ KAORI & DOUBLE “Miss DJ” (2007), DJ KAORI with JAY’ED “You’re The Only One” (2008), and “S・A・Y・O・N・A・R・A” (2009). In 2012, released AILI×DJ KAORI ft. ICONIQ “Miss You”. Her fashion sense and lifestyle has attracted the attention of many females in their teens and 20s.
