Temma Matsunaga, the lead male vocal of Japanese rock band URBANGARDE, has announced the release of his first book Jisatsushatachi (“Selfie People”) on October 22. The book is a compilation of short stories, essays, and poems following the prolific writer’s three favorite themes: shojo (girls), toshi (metropolitan city life), and kami (God). The jacket features artwork by Trevor Brown, who has contributed illustrations for URBANGARDE’s recent jacket covers.

Known for for pointed controversial themes and social commentary, Matsunaga is no stranger to outrageous and thought-provoking works, having confronted issues like coin-locker babies, Japan’s nuclear program, illicit student/teacher affairs, and the dark side of idol culture in his lyrics for URBANGARDE.

URBANGARDE recently announced their new album Showa 90 with new label Kadokawa Media Factory, slated for release on December 9. The band made their USA debut last June at A-Kon 2015 in Dallas, Texas.
