SUGIZO’s artist photo, “Full of hope for the future”

March 11 marks four years since the East Japan earthquake that greatly changed the fate of Japan.

A memorial event for the East Japan earthquake was held at Yoyogi Park, Tokyo on this day. SUGIZO, who performed at <311 HIGASHI NIPPON DAISHINSAI SHIMIN NO TSUDOI “Peace On Earth”>, revealed his new artist photo that is full of hope toward the future.

The photo shows SUGIZO standing in front of rubble, but it projects a sense of hope for the future. It was shot in Minamisoma, Fukushima, which was at the center of the earthquake and is very close to Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant.

SUGIZO continues to make trips back to the disaster to volunteer and offer educational assistance. He has visited Minamisoma and continues to help the voices of the locals and their situations be heard.

This photo was released on the fourth anniversary of 3.11 and has a special meaning. It is his assertion that his heart is always connected to the disaster area and that he walks with them.

“Until the day the sadness is healed. Let’s walk together.”

SUGIZO’s “promise” is always here.

Until the day that the disaster area breathes new life…
