Eir Aoi performed at “Anime Expo” in Los Angeles on July 4, 2014 (local time).

“Anime Expo” is the biggest anime convention in North America and has been held every year since 1992. A total of 160,000 people attended the event last year, 60,000 of which were first-timers. This year, the event was held at Los Angeles Convention Center from July 3 to July 6. 70,000 anime fans from all over the world gathered in two days.

July 4, Independence Day, was a national holiday, but tickets sold out regardless. 3,500 fans packed the venue and shouted, “Ei, Ei, Ruu!” as the intro music played and Aoi took the stage. Her singing voice did not disappoint, and the crowd cheered from beginning to end. “I practiced very hard”, Aoi said of her English banter. Her message reached her fans, and she performed her new song, “IGNITE”, which will be released next month.

Aoi will appear at Asia’s biggest anime convention, “ACG Hong Kong”, at the end of the month. Her overseas presence is gradually increasing, and her shows are steadily getting larger in scale.
